A lot has happened

I have gotten away from blogging for a long time and I have desperately missed it.  I think it's because there is so much social media that can take a hold and consume so much time so easily.  For me it was Facebook. I say was because I just deactivated my account to keep me away. Yes, it can be a wonderful tool for networking and keeping in touch, but it can also be a horrible distraction.  It came down to that for me yesterday. Seems I was tagged in a picture where I was on someone's sail boat (2 rafted together actually) to watch fireworks on the Hudson.  It was a nice night, the kids loved their night swim with friends and we were home in seconds as we live right by the marina where the boats are moored. Anyway, this picture seemed to induce someone, who is very close to me, to post a mean spirited comment pointed at me.  I was hurt and angered at the same time.  I have gotten to a place in my life that if I have to explain something as meaningless as a picture on a sail boat, then I don't really know what kind of relationship I have.  And it wasn't just that one post, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.  I'm tired of seeing other 'friendships' handled on Facebook in this same way.  SO, I figured that I HAD to deactivate my account for my own wellbeing and if anyone has anything to say to me, they can call and talk to me.  That's a bit 'old school' I know, but I DID grow up in a house with one corded, pulse, rotary telephone in the kitchen, so I'm not resistant to talking on one of my 3 cordless phones...lol

I'm not completely unplugged.  I'm still on Instagram that I haven't used in a while, so I was happy to jump in that again.  I really like the whole picture thing with that.  Of course, I still have my email accounts and my blogger!

So, let me catch up a bit.  I am still working on losing weight and getting healthy.  It's taking more time than I like, but I have lost about 15 lbs since my last blog.  That makes me happy. :) Also, I have started working part time for an attorney.  I've been there for about 3 weeks now and I love my job!  Juggling part time work and kids, house, dog, etc. isn't as difficult as I had originally imagined.  Yes, there are some adjustments for all of us and everyone has made a pretty smooth transition. The one with the most difficulty was the dog...LOL.  He just didn't know what to do with me leaving on a regular basis and the kids said that the first week he was misbehaving terribly.  He's better now.

I have been loving work and my job! The first week I lost 5 lbs! LOL I thought that was a nice added bonus! I have a wonderful boss who is an awesome lawyer and just an over all sweet, decent person. She makes my job so easy.

So my goal now is to find more time to exercise.  It's been crazy hot this past week and that always puts a damper on the exercise motivation.  I have been eating well, that's never been an issue for me.  It's always been the exercising that is something I have to work harder to do.

Another goal is to blog more often.  It may not be every day, but I will try to post more than once a week. That will help me to keep motivated to exercise.
